Ashe Developmental Day School (ADDS) is a nonprofit developmental day center serving young children in Ashe

County, including children with developmental delays and disabilities, in a nurturing, inclusive setting. Our Board of

Directors is looking for a hands-on leader who cares deeply about children, families, and staff, and who wants to

help ADDS keep growing as a trusted resource in our community.

Job Summary

The Center Director oversees the day-to-day operations of ADDS, including staffing, regulatory compliance,

budgeting support, and the safety and well-being of every child in our care. This role works closely with the Board

of Directors and needs someone organized, steady under pressure, and genuinely invested in high-quality care.


Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily operations of the center,

including staffing, compliance, and the

safety and well-being of children

• Partner with the Board of Directors to

develop, implement, and review center

policies and procedures

• Ensure ongoing compliance with local,

state (NC DCDEE), and federal

childcare regulations

• Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and

evaluate staff

• Encourage and support staff in

pursuing continuing education and

professional credentials

• Partner with the Board in developing

and managing the center's annual

budget


• Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and general

upkeep of the facility

• Build and maintain strong relationships with a

diverse population of families, staff, and

community partners

• Coordinate facility access and scheduling for

visiting CDSA/NC Infant-Toddler Program

therapists and other outside service providers

• Stay current on curriculum, assessment, and staff

training requirements

• Prepare reports and documentation for the Board

and regulatory agencies as needed

• Step in wherever needed to support classrooms

and daily operations

• Solid grounding in business and management principles


Required Qualifications:

• A Level III North Carolina Early Childhood Administration Credential (NCECAC), issued by the NC Division

of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE); and

• At least two years of work experience with children with developmental delays or disabilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field

• Prior experience as a childcare center director or assistant director

• Familiarity with NC DCDEE licensing standards and the star-rated license system
