RESPONSIBILITIES
The Cafeteria Associate will:
Menu Planning & Preparation:
- Collaborate with the Evening Care Teacher; Before and After School Care Teacher to prepare meals and transitions.
- Collaborate with the Director to develop nutritious menus that meet dietary guidelines including (allergies or special dietary requirements).
- Oversee the preparation and cooking of the meals, ensuring quality and adherence to portion sizes.
Allergy Management:
- Implement protocols for managing food allergies and sensitivities, including proper labeling of ingredients and cross-contamination prevention measures.
- Train cafeteria staff on allergy awareness and emergency response produces.
Inventory Management:
- Maintain inventory of food and kitchen supplies, and place orders as needed to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Monitor food expiration dates and ensure proper storage.
Hygiene & Sanitation:
- Enforce hygiene and sanitation standards in the cafeteria in compliance with health regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections of food preparation and storage areas to identify cleanliness or safety issues.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Maintain open communication channels with teachers, and management regarding menu changes, special dietary needs, and feedback on meal quality.
- Collaborate with management to coordinate special events or themed meals.
Continuous Improvement:
- Seek feedback from staff, parents, and children to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance the dining experience.
- Stay updated on childcare industry trends and best practices in child nutrition and cafeteria management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience in food service management, preferably in a childcare or school cafeteria setting.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in kitchen management.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and train cafeteria staff.
- Understanding of child nutrition requirements and experience in menu planning for diverse dietary needs.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and willingness to work evenings or weekends for special events or parent meetings.
- Must be willing to undergo a background check process required for employment at Ascension Child Care Learning Center.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- ServSafe Certification required. Must be willing to obtain within 30 days of employment.
- CPR & First Aid Certification are required. Must be willing to obtain within 30 days of employment.
- Additional training in culinary arts or nutrition is a plus.
OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES
The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:
- Ability to interact with the children and all staff members physically and verbally.
- Ability to perform the following physical activities: stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, and bend.
- At times, be able to lift amounts up to 50lbs.
