The Director of Student Ministry oversees the Student Ministry team, which consists of an Associate Director, an Administrative Coordinator, and a Part-Time Ministry Intern. They will also lead a group of volunteers who serve as pastors to students in grades 6 through 12. The Director oversees all aspects of the student ministry including vision casting, staffing, event programming, ongoing weekly programming, and leaders. Developing the curriculum, programming, events, annual calendar, and leaders are key to the Director's role. The Director collaborates with other family ministries and Asbury staff to ensure Student Ministries continues to cultivate the vision of Asbury Church.

Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

 

  • Invests in student leaders who can mentor younger students
  • Contributes to the planning and execution of Student Ministry special events such as retreats, trainings, student fun events, etc.
  • Plans weekly gatherings such as Sunday morning and evening
  • Edits and/or writes curriculum
  • Oversees and develops a strategy for volunteer training
  • Plans and coordinates student mission strategy and international mission trip
  • Sets and organizes annual student ministry budgets
  • Partners with the Student Lay Leadership Team to support the work of the ministry
  • Meet regularly one-on-one with students and families
  • Ensures a healthy culture for ministry staff and volunteers so that they are able to lead well
  • Oversees and assists in all other aspects of the student ministry

 

Qualifications / Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

 

Education and Experience:

  • BS/BA is preferred
  • Five years paid experience in student ministry required
  • Experience in a large (1,000+ members) church preferred

  • Is willing to support and teach the beliefs held by the church as seen in the Asbury’s Faith and Practices.
  • Solid grounding in Scripture; evidence of a vital and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Ability to manage time and schedules well and to meet deadlines consistently
  • Leadership style that is people-focused, results-oriented, and adaptable to frequent change
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills


Classification and Hours:

  • Salaried, exempt with full benefits as outlined in the employee guide
  • 40 hours per week
  • Salary commensurate with experience

$40,000 - $60,000 per year
