Job Title: Director of Kids Ministry

Classification: Full-Time, Salary Exempt, 40 hours weekly

Position Summary

The Director of Kids Ministry provides vision, leadership, and oversight for Kids Ministry of Asbury Church, creating safe, engaging, and Christ-centered environments where children from birth through fifth grade can know Jesus, grow in their faith, and build meaningful relationships. This position equips volunteers, partners with parents, and develops ministry strategies that align with the mission and vision of Asbury Church. Additionally, this position will provide oversight of the Asbury Kids staff and the Centralized Kids Ministry team, and serve as an active collaborator in Family Ministries initiatives.


Roles & Responsibilities

Leadership & Vision

  • Champion the vision, mission, and values of Asbury Church within Kids Ministry.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for children's spiritual formation from birth through fifth grade.
  • Evaluate ministry effectiveness and implement improvements that help children and families take next steps in their faith.
  • Collaborate with church leadership to ensure Kids Ministry supports the overall mission of the church.


Ministry Programming

  • Oversee pre-school, elementary, and special needs programming for all weekend, midweek, and special Kids Ministry services.
  • Final oversight of the coordination of curriculum selection and implementation, ensuring every ministry environment is engaging, biblically accurate, and age-appropriate.


Family Discipleship

  • Equip parents to become the primary spiritual leaders of their children.
  • Provide resources and communication that encourage faith conversations at home.
  • Develop opportunities for families to engage together in worship, discipleship, and service.


Safety & Administration

  • Provide oversight and advisement to steward the Kids Ministry budget responsibly.
  • Ensure that Kids Ministry classrooms and spaces are environmentally safe and secure.


Collaboration

  • Work closely with Student Ministry, Worship, Communications, and other ministries to support a unified family ministry strategy.
  • Oversee the Kids Ministry Centralized team and provide as a consultant to Kids Ministry on each Asbury campus.
  • Participate in staff meetings, director’s meetings, leadership gatherings, and church-wide initiatives.
  • Support church-wide events as needed.


Qualifications / Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Ministry, Christian Education, Elementary Education, Childhood Development, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in children's ministry or a related field.
  • Equivalent education and ministry experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead staff and volunteers, develop ministry strategy, and create environments where children and families grow in their faith.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
