Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Sorting linens, towels, clothing, and other laundry items by color, size, weight and material.
• Placing laundry items and running them through Commercial Washers and Dryers.
• Wrapping clean laundry items ready for pickup or delivery to customers.
• Sorting and stacking laundry.
• Carrying clean laundry to the pickup line and/or stowing away properly in storage areas.
• Cleaning and rolling laundry carts
• Operating a laundry folding machine.
• Wiping up any spills to ensure laundry floors remain dry during business hours
• Washing items with commercial laundry equipment while following proper sanitary protocols
• Stocking laundry supplies such as detergent, bleach, laundry bags, and fabric softener
• Creating laundry tags with identifiable customer information on Point of Sale systems.
• Creating invoices for laundry orders
• Anticipate and respond to customers' queries, concerns, and complaints in a professional manner
• Performing other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• Must be able to read labels on clothing materials
• Knowledge of workplace safety procedures
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 35 lbs.
• Outstanding organizational, time management and problem solving skills
• Ability to maintain professional demeanor in high-stress situations
• Proven work experience as a Laundry Attendant or similar role is a plus
• Familiarity with cleaning detergents and laundering equipment is a plus
• High school diploma or equivalent is a plus

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk and stand during entire shift. The employee frequently must lift and carry racks or stacks of laundry and other items, weighing up to 35 pounds, up to 50 times per shift. The employee occasionally lifts and empties laundry using laundry carts and then folder laundry with the assistance of a laundry folding machine, several times per shift. The employee frequently bends, stoops, reaches, pushes and lifts. The employee works primarily indoors. This position will require the occasional exposure to sharp objects in laundry items like pockets, etc. with some potential for injury, all of which can be avoided by taking proper care in handling customer’s laundry. The employee is frequently required to wash their hands. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
