About the Role
We're looking for a sharp, curious writer with a journalism background to tell the stories that matter most to Arena - the people, companies, and moments shaping sports, media & entertainment. You'll report, interview industry leaders, and produce editorial work you’re excited to put your name on. You'll also help run our weekly editorial newsletter and adapt your stories for social.
Responsibilities
- Interview Arena members and write longform profiles and feature stories
- Produce case studies showing how Arena members are winning
- Write journalistic pieces on trends, events, and culture in sports, media & entertainment
- Edit and help produce our weekly editorial newsletter, start to finish
- Adapt your stories into short-form captions for social media
- Pitch ideas for the editorial calendar and bring them to life
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in journalism, communications, English, or a related field
- Strong reported writing samples - published work is a plus
- Can outreach to and interview people, find the story, and write it with an authentic voice
- Comfortable across multiple formats and lengths from short-to-long form written content
- Someone who asks "why does this matter?" before they start writing
- Genuinely detail-obsessed - you triple-check for typos before hitting send
- Can manage your own deadlines on a remote team
Preferred Qualifications
- Passionate about building a career in the business of sports, media, or entertainment
- Has a constant pulse on the business side of sports and entertainment, not just the fan-facing headlines
- Open to feedback and quick to turn around edits
- Bonus: SEO basics, newsletter platforms (Substack, Beehiiv, Mailchimp), or audio/video storytelling
