As a Caregiver / Personal Care Attendant, you will provide one-on-one, non-medical care to clients in their homes according to an individualized service plan. Responsibilities may include assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, transportation, and other supportive services that promote safety and independence. Schedules may include mornings, evenings, weekends, overnight shifts, or holidays depending on client needs. This is a PRN/Part-Time W-2 position, meaning hours will vary based on the operational needs of the agency.

Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care assistance, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and hygiene.
  • Assist with mobility, transfers, ambulation, and fall prevention.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support while encouraging client independence.
  • Prepare meals and assist with feeding when appropriate.
  • Perform light housekeeping, laundry, and linen changes.
  • Remind clients to take medications as directed (no medication administration).
  • Escort or transport clients to appointments, errands, or community activities when authorized.
  • Observe, document, and promptly report changes in a client's physical, mental, or emotional condition.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of services provided.
  • Follow each client's individualized service plan and agency policies.
  • Protect client privacy and maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and agency standards.
  • Communicate professionally with supervisors, clients, families, and other members of the care team.
  • Attend required orientation, training, and continuing education.


Qualifications

Required

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Able to pass a criminal background check in accordance with Texas Health and Human Services requirements.
  • Able to successfully complete all pre-employment screening required by Ardenwell Home Care.
  • Current CPR certification (or willingness to obtain after hire)
  • Current negative Tuberculosis (TB) screening or ability to obtain one before employment.
  • Valid driver's license (if transportation is required for assigned clients).
  • Reliable transportation and proof of current automobile insurance (for driving positions).
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, patience, and reliability.

Preferred

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Six months to one year of caregiving, home care, CNA, PCA, or related healthcare experience.
  • First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain after hire if required by the agency).
  • Experience working with seniors, individuals with disabilities, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, or hospice clients.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb stairs as needed throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely assist clients with transfers, repositioning, and mobility using proper body mechanics and assistive devices when appropriate.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry items necessary to perform caregiving duties.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in a variety of home environments, including homes with stairs, pets, or varying household conditions.
