The Role

Do you possess a bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited curriculum, coupled with direct experience performing structural calculations on unitized curtain wall systems? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you.

We are a highly respected engineering and consulting firm in the fenestration industry, looking to appoint an experienced and analytical Curtain Wall Engineer to be responsible for all aspects of the design, development, and project management of various types of facade structural systems.

The successful candidate will be involved in various specialty component structures, as well as a knowledge and understanding of the design of "Components and Cladding" structures defined by the International Building Code.

This is a remote position, and applicants must have a dedicated work environment to minimize distractions and interruptions during work hours.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of a Curtain Wall Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs structural calculations on products and specialty items based on the project's overall scope. This would include system design, mock-ups, embeds, framing, anchors, and all reference material.
  • Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates all aspects of the project management plan for various sizes and complexity of projects.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring of less-experienced staff members in their growth and understanding of engineering principles and industry-related practices.
  • Assist the Engineering Manager with scheduling and tracking all projects to ensure they are on time and within budget.
  • Evaluate and analyze system and extrusion die designs – standard and custom – to maximize efficiency while meeting specification and code requirements.
  • Capable of leading design-assist activities with key customers to develop solutions to project-specific requirements.
  • Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include various sophisticated features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of traditional materials, and complex coordination requirements.
  • This position requires a broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and a good knowledge of and practices of related specialties.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to learn industry standards, maintain a high productivity level, and work with other team members.
  • Consistently displays a sense of urgency for all tasks and deadlines.
  • Collaborate with other teams to make improve and make the best use of engineering resources.
  • Maintains memberships in industry-specific professional organizations and actively participates in those that impact the fenestration industry.

The Person

The essential skills and qualities of a Curtain Wall Engineer are:

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited curriculum or equivalent, plus appropriate continuing education
  • Direct work experience performing structural calculations on unitized curtain wall systems
  • Direct experience in the management of the project flow through the engineering process
  • EIT preferred, Licensed Professional Engineer a plus
  • Able to work across organizational lines to achieve results
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while still maintaining attention to detail
  • Impeccable organizational skills
  • Must possess a high level of personal integrity
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to implement continuous process improvement
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Word processing, Spreadsheets, Engineering software, Internet and E-mail applications
  • Ability to handle pressure and stress while maintaining a high level of performance and productivity
  • Fluent in the English language.
