Arcadia Strategy Group is seeking a senior Mainframe Developer (COBOL / zOS) to support a mission-critical customer. This role supports various mainframe products and new age offerings and secure enhancement of enterprise-level applications that remain central to operations. This role is on-site.

 

This is a hands-on engineering role requiring deep legacy system expertise combined with an understanding of secure environments.

Location: Annapolis Junction, Maryland

 

Estimated Responsibilities

·      Maintain, enhance, and troubleshoot mission-critical COBOL-based applications in a z/OS environment

·      Design and implement system enhancements aligned with evolving mission requirements

·      Perform impact analysis and support solution design activities for mainframe-based systems

·      Develop, test, and deploy batch and online processing components

·      Support integration efforts between legacy mainframe systems and newer platforms or services

·      Interface with DB2, VSAM, JCL, CICS, and related mainframe technologies

·      Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and technical estimations as required

·      Contribute to proof-of-concept or new age initiatives within the mainframe ecosystem

·      Ensure compliance with secure development practices in classified environments

·      Document system updates, technical specifications, and operational procedures

 

Required Qualifications

·      10+ years of professional experience developing and maintaining COBOL applications

·      10+ years of experience in mainframe environments

·      Demonstrated experience with JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM

·      Experience supporting large-scale enterprise data processing systems

·      Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills in legacy environments

·      Experience working in highly regulated or classified environments

·      Ability to translate operational requirements into technical solutions

·      Strong written and verbal communication skills

·      Active TS/SCI clearance
