As a Landscape Maintenance Trainee, you will receive on-the-job training and guidance from experienced professionals as you assist with various garden maintenance tasks. Responsibilities:
- Assisting with basic garden maintenance tasks such as weeding, watering, and mulching.
- Learning proper plant care techniques and procedures under the guidance of experienced gardeners.
- Operating and maintaining garden equipment and tools under supervision.
- Participating in seasonal cleanup activities and garden preparations.
- Providing support to senior staff members during landscape projects and installations.
- Communicate effectively with team members and follow instructions diligently.
- Demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence in all tasks.
Qualifications:
- Interest in gardening, horticulture, or landscaping.
- Strong ornamental and PNW weed identification skills. (preferred but not required).
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (preferred but not required).
Position Requirements:
- Enthusiasm for horticulture and willingness to learn.
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not required).
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites or the shop.
- Hardworking, self-starter, capable of working independently.
- Can complete physical labor, including bending, lifting, digging, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Sees the big picture regarding prioritizing tasks.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, Monday through Friday, totaling 40 hours per week. Candidates should be prepared for varying shifts, with some days requiring longer hours, particularly during peak season (May-August), and shorter hours in the off-season (Nov-Feb). Overtime pay is provided for hours worked beyond the standard schedule.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Associate's in Horticulture or related coursework.
