Assistant Manager and Merchandiser

This position will encompass numerous functions within the retail environment. As assistant manager and merchandiser, your primary responsibility will be the overall look and feel of our store through your merchandizing skills and vision. You will prepare mannequins, set the floor for seasonal changes and holiday themes, and create visually appealing window displays on a rotating basis.
You’ll also work as part of our management team to direct staff to help to prepare and display apparel and other products as they arrive. When not merchandising the sales floor, you may be working directly with our customers as they prepare for their outdoor adventures and epic trips, or, receiving product as it arrives. Summary:
Develops merchandising plan and themes based on owners & store managers direction and based on seasonal needs. Greets and takes care of the needs of customers. Assists in customer purchase selections by performing the following:
Duties and Responsibilities
Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Provides quality customer service to include assistance with purchases, suggestive selling and providing product information. (Attends staff product training clinics).
2. Helps other sales staff associates to maintain a clean, organized, store and stock room.
3. Assists as necessary with; steaming, prepping, tagging and straightening clothing, restocking hard goods, processing eCommerce orders.
4. Works with owners and management to develop seasonal merchandising plan.
5. Helps to create signage as necessary to showcase product, promote sales, or to provide informational content about a product such as shoe tags and sales signage.
6. Responsible for organizing and keeping track of merchandising fixtures, displays, mannequins, etc.
7. Provides other managers and staff clear directions as to what merchandising tasks may need to be completed during the week. Plans and creates seasonal window displays and themes, no less that quarterly, or, as holiday’s dictate.

Language Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software, design software, internet software, and Microsoft Outlook.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree, Associate's degree, or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Specialized Training:
Fashion or visual merchandising training
Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities:
· Artistic creativity
· Ability to prepare windows, develop attractive signage and chalk board announcements.
