The Assistant Hospital Manager plays a critical role in ensuring smooth clinic operations by managing inventory, facility maintenance, and team efficiency. This role also focuses on improving patient flow, timely communication, and overall staff productivity to maintain a high standard of service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Development
- Interview, hire, onboard, train, and supervise staff, ensuring a clear understanding of job responsibilities and career paths.
- Recommend advancements and conduct performance reviews for support staff.
- Lead clinic staff directly, fostering a positive work environment and addressing concerns promptly.
- Perform 30/90-day evaluations for new hires and quarterly performance reviews for department team members.
- Address performance concerns through corrective action as needed.
Operational Management
- Manage and monitor all inventory, including controlled substances, and maintain back order logs for supplies and medications in coordination with the hospital management team.
- Ensure timely completion of client and DVM communications and management of inbox items.
- Create monthly staff schedules for assigned departments.
- Follow up on outstanding patient account balances.
- Conduct routine system maintenance and resolve operational issues as they arise.
- Assist with maintaining internal SOPs and ensure OSHA compliance audits are completed in collaboration with the management team.
Efficiency and Client Care
- Oversee patient flow to minimize wait times and maximize clinic efficiency.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for clients and staff.
- Work collaboratively with the hospital management team to identify areas for operational improvement.
Skills and Abilities
- Proven ability to create and foster a positive organizational culture through leadership and collaboration.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding staff and clinic operations.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Full-time, in-person role in a veterinary hospital environment.
- Comfortable working around animals.
- Adherence to a smoke-free, alcohol-free, and drug-free workplace.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain active throughout the shift.
- Dallas/Fort Worth Area Managers may be asked to transfer between locations, as business needs dictate.
- Flexible schedule, including willingness to work weekends or holidays as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or an additional 3 years of relevant experience required.
- Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) preferred.
- Preferred 2 years of experience in business and/or veterinary management or supervision
- Knowledge of regulations governing veterinary clinics and state/federal safety standards.
COMPENSATION PACKAGE
Target Annual Salary Range: $55,000 - $75,000
Quarterly Performance Bonus Potential

Annual Bonus Potential: 15% of base salary, distributed in quarterly increments

- Client reviews.
- Staff retention and engagement scores.
- Revenue growth or achieving hospital profitability targets.
