Chief Financial Officer

Los Angeles, CA | Full-Time

Anera Collective is excited to partner with a fast-growing, high-caliber direct-to-consumer brand on their search for a Chief Financial Officer. This is a rare opportunity to step into a company with real momentum and shape the financial strategy behind its next phase of growth.

About the Company

Our client is a growth-stage direct-to-consumer brand based in Los Angeles, operating a thriving e-commerce business alongside a physical retail presence. The company is scaling with intention and looking for a senior finance leader to own its financial strategy as it moves into its next chapter.

The Role

The Chief Financial Officer is a critical leadership hire reporting directly to the CEO, owning the company's full financial strategy from forecasting and reporting to cash management and long range planning, and translating that picture into clear, actionable guidance for the executive team.

What You'll Own

Financial Strategy & Leadership

  • Own the company's financial strategy and serve as a key strategic partner to the CEO and executive team
  • Lead annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting cycles across departments
  • Build and present board ready financial reporting and strategic recommendations
  • Partner with the CEO on long range planning, fundraising readiness, and major capital decisions

Accounting & Reporting

  • Oversee day to day accounting operations and month end close in partnership with external accountants or finance staff
  • Manage the P&L, cash flow, and balance sheet, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting
  • Own financial reporting cadence, including weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting, with written summaries that translate numbers into clear business context

Forecasting & Financial Modeling

  • Build, own, and continuously improve the company's forecasting infrastructure, including revenue models, scenario plans, and cash flow projections
  • Design templates and reporting frameworks that bring consistency and clarity across finance and operations
  • Develop a rolling forecast methodology that integrates marketing calendar inputs, buying decisions, and channel performance in real time
  • Partner with performance marketing and merchandising to ensure paid media budgets and unit buys are tightly coordinated with demand

Cross Functional Finance Partnership

  • Partner with operations and merchandising leadership on inventory investment, unit economics, and margin management
  • Evaluate and advise on major vendor, technology, and capital decisions across the business
  • Build the financial infrastructure and reporting rigor that scales with the company's growth

Who You Are

  • 10+ years of experience in finance leadership, ideally within DTC, e-commerce, or consumer products, with prior CFO, VP of Finance, or Head of Finance experience
  • A strategic partner. You think beyond the numbers and translate financial data into decisions the CEO and executive team can act on
  • A builder. You don't inherit systems, you create them, and your forecasting models and reporting frameworks become the operating standard for the company
  • A communicator. You write clearly and concisely, and your financial summaries don't require a translator
  • Tech forward. You actively seek out tools, automation, and AI assisted workflows that reduce manual work and increase accuracy
  • Deeply organized. You run a tight close process, maintain clean files, and create structure others can follow without you in the room
  • Startup or scale up experience strongly preferred; you know how to build financial infrastructure without over engineering it
  • Experience supporting a business through a raise, sale, or major operational transition is a plus

Nice to Have

  • Experience with ERP and financial planning tools (e.g. NetSuite, QuickBooks, Adaptive Insights, etc.)
  • Background in DTC, apparel, or consumer lifestyle brands
  • Experience building or refining a company's board reporting package

Compensation

  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience
  • Performance bonus eligibility

Salary

$350,000 - $385,000 per year
