We are seeking relational, creative, dedicated, professionals work collaboratively with Anchor Within Counseling. We are a multi-cultural focused practice which prioritizes connecting racial and ethnic minorities to culturally-competent providers. We are eager to add new skills to the space with an additional PSS or CHW. Peer Support Specialists (PSS) & Community Health Workers (CHWs) are outpatient providers that support the mental health of clients by providing services within the scope of practice of their certification from Oregon Health Authority. PSS provide skills building, psychoeducation, and case management to individuals, families, and/or youth. CHW provide health education, case management, and outreach to improve access to healthcare and enhance the cultural competence of service delivery.

About Anchor Within Counseling

Anchor opened it's doors in the fall of 2015. We serve individuals, families, and the community primarily with psychotherapy services. We host group forums and workshops centered on family healing and community growth. Our services are rendered through a holistic approach and with evidence-based practices. We prioritize the care of historically marginalized racial/cultural populations in the field of social service and mental health care. Our purpose is rooted in stimulating healing that is anchored in lasting, long-term change.

Life Skills Trainer (Peer Support Specialist)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide services, within a set scope of practice, to clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Develop and maintain positive, supportive relationships with clients.
  • Assist clients in identifying and working towards their personal, family, health, and/or recovery goals.
  • Advocate for clients' needs and rights within the community and healthcare systems.
  • Offer culturally sensitive resources and referrals to clients and their families.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and support for clients.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions and progress.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in peer support and cultural competency.


REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • OHA Certification as a Peer Support Specialist, Community Health Worker, Peer Wellness Specialist, or equivalent training.
  • Lived experience as a member of the Black, African, and/or Latino communities, or strong cultural competency in serving these populations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong advocacy and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the community as needed.
  • Ability to pass a criminal history background check.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working in mental health or social services.
  • Familiarity with community resources and support networks for the Black, African, and/or Latino communities.
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish, Swahili, or other languages spoken by the target population.

Salary

$43,680 - $66,560 per year
