Job Summary

We are looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Assembly Technician to join our team in Troy, MI. This entry-level position is perfect for those eager to learn and grow in the electronics manufacturing industry. You'll play a vital role in assembling high-quality electronic products while working a 4-day, 10-hour shift schedule—giving you a 3-day weekend every week unless overtime is needed, which always falls on the 5th day, ensuring you still get a minimum of a 2-day weekend.


Key Responsibilities

Assemble electronic and mechanical components with precision, following detailed work instructions and schematics

Follow instructions and ensure process and product conformity, maintaining high standards of quality

Use hand tools, power tools, and measurement equipment to ensure precision

Think beyond assembly – Suggest ideas to improve efficiency, workflow, and product quality

Identify and communicate process improvements to help streamline production and reduce waste

Work with leadership to troubleshoot production bottlenecks and find creative solutions

Perform quality checks to ensure products meet specifications and report any defects or inconsistencies

Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring compliance with safety and 5S principles

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet production targets and enhance overall operations


Qualifications & Skills

High school diploma or equivalent; technical training is a plus

No prior experience required—training provided

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured work instructions

Ability to work with small components and assembly tools

A proactive mindset—willing to suggest and implement improvements

Team player with excellent communication skills

Overtime on the 5th day only – Always get at least a 2-day weekend

Assembly Technician

The Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling, programming, testing, and inspecting electronic and mechanical components in an Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) environment. This role follows IPC standards and work instructions to ensure high-quality workmanship and compliance with customer and industry requirements. Additionally, the Assembly Technician will assist with packing and shipping finished goods as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assembly & Operating:
  • Perform mechanical assembly of enclosures, wiring, and connectors per specifications.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and automated assembly equipment to complete work efficiently.
  • Operate selective solder or other production equipment. 
  • Conformal coating masking and operating conformal coating equipment. 
  1. Electronics Programming & Testing:
  • Load firmware and software onto electronic components following work instructions.
  • Perform functional and diagnostic testing of electronic assemblies using test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and automated test systems.
  • Verify product performance and troubleshoot basic functional issues.
  • Work with engineers and quality teams to resolve testing failures.
  1. Documentation & Compliance:
  • Read and follow assembly drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Maintain work logs in ERP and accurate production and test records, documenting issues and corrective actions.
  • Adhere to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) protection protocols and workplace safety regulations.
  • Maintain work space and follow production floor cleaning policies.
  1. Packing & Shipping:
  • Assist with packaging and labeling finished electronic assemblies according to customer requirements.
  • Prepare products for shipment, ensuring proper handling and packaging to prevent damage.
  • Verify shipping documentation and ensure products meet quality standards before dispatch.
  1. Process Improvement & Team Collaboration:
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and product quality.
  • Work closely with engineers, quality inspectors, and production teams to meet project deadlines.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Certification:
  • IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies) Certification preferred but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with ESD safety and handling sensitive electronic components is a plus.
  • Experience & Skills:
  • Experience in electronics assembly, programming, and testing in an EMS environment is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Experience with product packaging and shipping procedures is a plus.
  • Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Technical training or an associate degree in electronics or manufacturing is a plus.


Salary

$17 - $20 per hour
