Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver — Community Integration & Life Skills

Charlottesville / Albemarle Area, VA

$21–$25/hour | 30–35 hours per week | Immediate start

ABOUT THE ROLE

Amore Care Supports is hiring a Direct Support Professional to work one-on-one

with a young adult in his/her 20s living in the Charlottesville area.

This is not a sit-at-home position. This role is about getting out into the

community, building real friendships and routines, and helping a young adult

grow more independent and confident in everyday life.

The person we support is looking for someone active, upbeat, and easy to talk

to — a supportive presence who can be both a coach and a genuine companion.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

* Community integration — getting out into Charlottesville regularly: coffee

 shops, the library, the gym, downtown, parks, events, volunteer

 opportunities, and local activities based on his/her interests

* Socialization support — helping build and maintain friendships, practice

 conversation and social skills, and take part in group activities and

 community programs

* Money management coaching — hands-on practice with budgeting, understanding

 a bank account and debit card, comparing prices while shopping, tracking

 spending, saving toward personal goals, and building everyday financial

 confidence

* Daily living and independence skills — organization, planning, scheduling,

 and self-advocacy

* Transportation to community outings and appointments

* Supporting personal goals and ISP outcomes

* Documenting services provided

SCHEDULE

* 30–35 hours per week

* Typical hours: approximately 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday

* Occasional weekends depending on community events and activities

* Flexible scheduling — we work with you to build a consistent weekly schedule

 that fits your life

* Consistent, dependable hours with one individual (not a rotating caseload)

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

This role is a great fit for someone who is energetic, active, and genuinely

enjoys being out in the community. You will be spending your days on the go —

walking, driving, exploring Charlottesville, and connecting with people.

We especially welcome applicants who:

* Enjoy social outings, fitness, hobbies, gaming, music, sports, or local

 events and can share those interests

* Are comfortable being a positive role model and peer-style mentor

* Have patience, creativity, and a sense of humor

* Communicate well and can build genuine rapport with a young adult

Relevant experience may include:

* Direct Support Professional (DSP)

* Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

* Personal Care Aide (PCA)

* Caregiver or companion

* Behavioral Health Technician

* Special Education or Human Services support staff

* Recreation, youth mentoring, coaching, or camp counselor experience

* College students and recent graduates in psychology, social work, human

 services, education, or nursing are encouraged to apply

Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or

behavioral health needs is highly valued, but we will train the right person.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

* Age 18 or older

* High school diploma or GED

* Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance

* Ability to pass a background check

* Compassionate, dependable, and patient
