Apprentice Trainer
The apprentice trainer will be working with our master trainers to train Clients pets, ESA, Therapy Dogs and Psychiatric Service Dogs both for individual clients and for facility dogs serving first responders such as fire departments, police departments, assisted living, funeral homes, etc.
A Dog Training Apprentice with us will learn multiple techniques in their approach to dog training, obedience, behavior modification, specialized training and more.

- Teaching/Training background - several school teachers have become successful dog trainers with us, some opening their own businesses.
- Vet Tech/Other dog handling backgrounds - we have had great success with people from these backgrounds as well, some also starting their own businesses.
- Former clients/dog owners - who have a passion for training and understanding their own dogs.
- Customer Service backgrounds - individuals who know how to work with customers in a respectful, timely and consultative way to drive mutual satisfaction

Responsibilities
- Care for dogs in training, feeding, administering medication, cleaning kennel and kennel building, poop scooping, dog bathing, training area maintenance.
- Working under tutelage and supervision of senior trainer or master trainer to assist in training dogs both on location and in public.
- Meeting with clients to pick up or drop off their dogs.
- Assist with CGC, Therapy and Service Dog Public Access Testing.
- Attending all require meetings.
- A curiosity and drive to continue to learn and grow as a trainer and dog handler to advance out of apprenticeship to dog trainer, senior trainer, lead trainer and master trainer.
Must Haves
- Reliable transportation, good driving record and insurance
- Live in Northern Virginia area.
- Basic computer, tablet and smart phone skills
- Physical ability to work with dogs of all sizes and weights from 6 lbs to 150 lbs
- Comfort handling dogs
- Excellent time management skills
A Plus
- Experience in a dog related field (trainer, vet tech, kennel tech, groomer, walker, etc)
- Customer Service experience
- Consultative Sales experience
