We’re looking for an experienced Editor to shape long-form YouTube podcast episodes, trailers, teasers, clips, and social/video assets for American Alchemy.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong editorial eye — not just someone who can technically assemble footage. The right editor can find the strongest moments inside dense conversations, build tension, create emotional and intellectual hooks, and turn raw interview material into cinematic, high-retention digital content.
You should be comfortable owning edits from rough assembly through final delivery, collaborating with producers and creative leads, and making strong editorial decisions around story, pacing, music, sound design, structure, and visual rhythm.
The right person is creative, technically strong, organized, reliable, and able to work efficiently in a remote editorial workflow while maintaining high creative standards.
What You’ll Do

- Cut compelling trailers, teasers, clips, and social/video assets.

- Create polished cuts that balance clarity, depth, momentum, and taste.
- Incorporate notes from producers, creative leads, and stakeholders.
- Maintain clean project organization, naming conventions, and version control.
- Export review cuts, final deliverables, and platform-specific versions.
- Support tasteful use of graphics, captions, music, sound design, and visual references when needed.
- Manage project files and assets through Dropbox or similar remote workflows.
- Deliver clean, organized project files when needed.
Basic Requirements
- 3+ years of professional editing experience for YouTube, podcast, documentary, trailer, social, interview-based, or digital video content.
- Portfolio or reel with 3–5 relevant work samples showing trailers, teasers, long-form episodes, documentary-style work, podcasts, interviews, or social/video edits.
- Demonstrated experience editing long-form or idea-heavy material.
- Ability to identify powerful moments from raw interview footage and shape them into compelling edits.
- Strong judgment with story structure, pacing, music, sound design, and audience retention.

- Ability to work remotely and communicate reliably during active projects.

- Familiarity with Frame.io or similar review tools.
- Experience collaborating with producers, hosts, creative leads, or senior stakeholders.
- Ability to work from transcripts, selects, or raw footage to shape story-driven edits.
