The Role

ACE is hiring a Policy Analyst or Senior Policy Analyst to work closely with Kristie De Peña, a nationally recognized leader in immigration policy. This is a unique opportunity to work at the center of policy development, strategy, and thought leadership at a decisive moment in the national immigration debate.

We are looking for a sharp, independent thinker who moves easily between rigorous research and practical strategy. Qualified applicants should be able to distill complex legislative and regulatory developments, build persuasive arguments, and contribute in high-level strategy conversations.

As one of ACE's first full-time hires, you will need experience in immigration policy and the drive to help build a young organization from the ground up. This is not a narrow support role: you will help shape the organization's direction, priorities, and public voice.

A strong early- to mid-career candidate will join as Policy Analyst. A more seasoned candidate ready to take on greater scope will join as Senior Policy Analyst, with room to grow as the team expands. We encourage senior candidates to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Track and summarize major developments in immigration legislation, regulation, litigation, and the news.
  • Draft policy briefs, reports, memos, fact sheets, talking points, and op-eds for lawmakers, donors, state leaders, and the public.
  • Conduct original research and analysis on U.S. immigration law and policy. Familiarity with economic growth, labor markets, competitiveness, and talent mobility is a plus.
  • Turn data and analysis into clear, persuasive recommendations.
  • Support rapid-response research for media and congressional inquiries.
  • Identify opportunities to expand ACE's work and increase impact.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree plus at least two (2) years of full-time, relevant professional experience or a completed or in-progress graduate degree with at least one (1) year of relevant part-time experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. immigration law, policy, or legislative analysis.

What We Are Looking For

We know strong candidates rarely match a job description point for point. If our mission energizes you and you solve problems on your own initiative, we encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every preferred qualification. Skills can be built; we are hiring for curiosity, judgment, and ambition.

The right person will bring:

  • Intellectual curiosity and independent judgment, with a solutions-oriented instinct grounded in substance.
  • Writing that is clear, concise, and compelling, without sacrificing rigor.
  • Fluency with A.I. tools and the judgment to use them responsibly.
  • Sharp policy instincts, close attention to detail, and the confidence to defend a conclusion.
  • Professionalism and discretion with senior leaders and outside partners.
  • Comfort in a start-up culture, where initiative and adaptability matter.
  • The ability to translate complex policy into accessible, persuasive content for any audience.
  • The discipline to independently manage competing priorities and deadlines.

What We Offer

Our culture is rigorous but collegial: ambitious about impact, respectful of people's time, and grounded in mutual trust. You will join an organization that prizes excellence, candor, and collaboration over hierarchy. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, access to a retirement account, and unlimited PTO.

Equal Opportunity

ACE is an equal opportunity employer. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.

Employees currently work remotely but are expected to be available to attend regular meetings in D.C. Coworking space can be made available, and future office space is likely.
