Job Title: PRP Counselor

Reports To: Program Director / Rehabilitation Specialist

Employment Type: Part-Time with Full time potential

Location: Remote/Hybrid/In Community


ABOUT US:

We provide comprehensive support through mental health counseling, housing assistance and homeownership education, career and academic guidance, and access to child-sitting services.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The PRP Counselor provides direct rehabilitation support to individuals with serious mental illness, helping them achieve personal goals related to community integration, independent living, social skills, vocational functioning, and daily living activities. The counselor works within individualized rehabilitation plans and collaborates with the rehabilitation team, referring clinicians, and community partners.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement individualized rehabilitation activities as outlined in the client’s rehabilitation plan.
  • Teach life skills, social skills, coping strategies, community integration, and other supports to clients.
  • Support clients in achieving their goals for daily living, employment, education, and community participation.
  • Work collaboratively with the rehabilitation specialist, program director, and multidisciplinary team.
  • Document client interactions, progress, and outcomes in compliance with program and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate with referring clinicians and participate in treatment planning.
  • Connect clients with community resources and supportive services.

 

  • Assist in crisis intervention and support as needed.
  • Participate in team meetings and ongoing training.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree (social work, psychology, counseling, human services) required; Master’s preferred.
  • Experience (typically 1-2 years) working with individuals with serious mental illness in a behavioral health setting.
  • Knowledge of recovery-oriented, client-centered practice.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
  • Relevant certifications/training (e.g., PRP training, CPR/First Aid).

 

PREFERRED

  • Experience in psychiatric rehabilitation, supported employment, or case management.
  • Training or certification in behavioral health interventions.
