We are seeking a dependable and execution-focused Service Infrastructure Technician to join our Service Delivery team. This role is responsible for performing physical infrastructure work within client environments, including low-voltage cabling, rack installation, and device mounting, while also supporting end-user needs through Tier 1 service delivery. The Service Infrastructure Technician is responsible for ensuring infrastructure environments are installed cleanly, function reliably, and remain fully supportable over time. This role requires strong attention to detail, clear communication, and consistent execution aligned with defined standards. This role is ideal for someone who can execute physical installation work with precision, communicate effectively with clients onsite, and deliver reliable outcomes within a defined scope.
Key Responsibilities
· Own execution of physical infrastructure work, including low-voltage cabling, rack installation, equipment mounting, and device deployment, ensuring all work is clean, secure, and aligned with defined standards and design intent
· Own cabling quality end-to-end, ensuring all cabling is properly routed, terminated, labeled, tested, and organized to support long-term reliability and maintainability
· Own testing and validation of installed infrastructure, identifying and correcting physical layer issues and ensuring all work meets expected performance and certification standards
· Own organization of network environments, including racks, patch panels, and cable management, ensuring environments are structured, accessible, and serviceable
· Own client communication for onsite work, ensuring expectations, progress, and any issues are clearly communicated while minimizing disruption to the client environment
· Own identification and escalation of scope boundaries, ensuring engineering decisions, configuration changes, or design gaps are escalated with sufficient context
· Execute all Service Technician Tier 1 responsibilities, ensuring end-user issues are resolved efficiently while maintaining ticket quality, communication standards, and SLA adherence
· Demonstrate strong execution discipline and attention to detail, ensuring work is completed correctly the first time and does not introduce rework, instability, or client risk
· Participation in the After Hours Support rotation is required, including availability to respond to client emergencies outside of standard business hours
Technical Skills
· Execute physical infrastructure work and restore end-user productivity by applying structured installation practices and standard troubleshooting processes.
· Low-voltage cabling installation (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A), including routing through ceilings, walls, conduit, and pathways
· Cable management practices, including horizontal and vertical organization, and adherence to installation standards such as bend radius, separation, and support
· Patch panel termination, keystone jack punch-down, and RJ45 termination (crimping)
· Cable labeling standards and consistent port-to-port mapping (patch panel to wall jack to device)
· Cable testing and troubleshooting, including identification and correction of mis-wires, opens, and shorts, and use of certification tools where applicable
· Network rack and cabinet installation, including patch panels, switches, UPS devices, and structured cable management
· Mounting and positioning of infrastructure-connected devices, including cameras and wireless access points, with awareness of coverage and placement considerations
· Use of required tools including punch-down tools, crimpers, cable testers, tone generators, and probes
· Operation of power tools including drills and impact drivers, ensuring safe and proper usage during installation work
· Safe ladder and ceiling work, including the ability to work in elevated environments and confined spaces
· Scissor lift operation (certified, where required) and boom lift operation (certified, where required)
· Adherence to job site safety practices and proper equipment handling standards
· Documentation of cabling, terminations, and network environments, along with clear and accurate ticket notes and work summaries
· Active Directory password resets and standard user changes, MFA management (standard processes), and user onboarding/offboarding
· Workstation, OS, peripheral, mobile device, and Microsoft 365 user-level support
· Printing, scanning, client-side networking (DNS, DHCP, VPN), and telephony troubleshooting
Basic Qualifications
· 1+ years of experience in low-voltage cabling, infrastructure installation, or IT field services
· Experience using structured cabling tools such as punch-down tools, crimpers, and cable testers
· Experience installing or working with network racks, patch panels, or infrastructure equipment
· Ability to safely use power tools and perform physical installation work
· Ability to work on ladders, in ceilings, and in elevated or confined environments
· Strong attention to detail and ability to follow defined processes and installation standards
· Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients onsite
· Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for client onsite support and travel
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with cable certification tools
· Experience mounting cameras, access points, or similar devices
· Scissor lift and/or boom lift certification
· Familiarity with basic networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, VPN)
· Experience in a managed services or service delivery environment
