Description

About the role

AlignLayerNine (ALN) is launching a private-client technology concierge service for a small number of principals, their families, and their executive assistants. You will be the first and primary concierge: the one person these clients call when anything technology-related gets in their way.

Think of the standard set by premium card concierge desks, applied to IT. Clients reach a real person on the first ring, get working again in minutes, and never have to explain themselves twice. Behind that experience, you bring the judgment of a security professional and the full resources of an established MSP/MSSP.

  • Title: Executive Technology Concierge
  • Location: Chicago area (Glenview office), on-site at client residences and offices as needed, with occasional travel
  • Reports to: Owner, AlignLayerNine

What you'll do

  • Answer the line. Be the named, first-ring contact for every covered principal, family member, and designated assistant. Own each request from first call to resolution.
  • Get them working fast. Triage in the moment, apply a workaround so the client can keep going, then do the deep dive and root-cause fix afterward so it doesn't come back.
  • Troubleshoot across everything they use. Laptops, phones, tablets, home networks, AV and smart-home systems, email, cloud accounts, printers, travel connectivity, and whatever else turns up.
  • Buy and set up on their behalf. Source, purchase, configure, and deliver devices and services within defined spend authority. Handle setup, data migration, and retirement of old equipment end to end.
  • Protect the family. Run the private-client protection program: data broker removal, dark web and identity monitoring, password manager and hardware key rollout, carrier port-out locks and SIM PINs, home network hardening, and periodic OSINT exposure reviews.
  • Spot the attack. Verify every caller against the covered roster. Recognize social engineering, wire fraud, gift card scams, and impersonation attempts aimed at the principal, family, or staff, and stop them.
  • Coordinate behind the scenes. Route work to ALN's service desk, field techs, and engineers while staying the client's single point of contact. Make sure every request is documented in ALN's ticketing system without the client ever seeing ticket numbers or automated emails.
  • Build the relationship. Work closely with executive assistants and household staff, learn each family's preferences and environment, and anticipate needs before travel, events, or new-device seasons.
  • Help build the service. Shape the playbooks, onboarding assessments, and standards this line runs on, and help train the backup and future concierges as the program grows.

Who you are

  • 5+ years supporting executives or VIPs directly. For example, the executive support desk at a trading firm, hedge fund, law firm, or family office, or a senior role with a high-end residential integrator.
  • Broad, hands-on technical depth. You're fluent in macOS, iOS, Windows, and Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, comfortable with home and small-office networking, and able to pick up an unfamiliar system quickly.
  • Security-minded. You understand identity protection, MFA, phishing and social engineering, and basic privacy and compliance obligations, and you treat verification as part of good service, not an obstacle to it.
  • Calm and polished under pressure. You can handle a frustrated principal on a deadline, stay warm and confident, and never make a client feel foolish for asking.
  • A creative problem solver. When the obvious fix isn't available, you find another way. "That's not supported" is where your thinking starts, not where it ends.
  • Independent with good judgment. You make decisions, spend responsibly within your authority, and know when to escalate.
  • Absolutely discreet. You never discuss clients, their homes, their schedules, or their families with anyone who doesn't need to know.
  • An excellent communicator. Clear, concise, and professional in person, by phone, and in writing, with principals and assistants alike.
  • Able to pass a comprehensive background check and sign a strict confidentiality agreement.

Nice to have

  • Experience with smart-home and AV platforms such as Crestron, Savant, Control4, Sonos, or UniFi
  • Background in private aviation, yacht, or luxury hospitality technology
  • Familiarity with privacy and identity protection tools, OSINT, or executive protection practices
  • Certifications such as Apple Certified Support Professional, CompTIA Security+, or Microsoft 365 credentials
  • Experience working inside an MSP or MSSP and its ticketing and RMM tools
  • Spanish or another second language

How we work

  • Coverage: You're the primary concierge during defined core hours, with a trained backup and ALN's service desk behind you. Some evening, weekend, and travel-time availability is part of the role, and we plan it so the promise to clients stays sustainable.
  • Spend authority: You'll carry a company card with tiered purchasing limits. Purchases under a set threshold are your call; larger ones get a quick confirmation from the client or their assistant.
  • Discretion: Client information is restricted to the concierge team. You'll follow strict handling rules for anything involving locations, schedules, family details, and security assessments.
  • Growth: This is the first seat on a new service line. As it grows, you'll help hire and train the concierges who follow and have a real path to lead the program.

Compensation and benefits

  • Base salary: $110,000–$150,000, depending on experience
  • Annual bonus: tied to client retention and satisfaction
  • Company phone, laptop, and travel expenses covered
  • Comprehensive benefits: health, dental, and vision insurance; paid time off; safe harbor 401(k); short-term disability; and AD&D coverage
