About AlexandHR

AlexandHR provides fractional HR, HR technology, compliance, and operational support to growing businesses. We work alongside our clients as an extension of their teams, helping them build practical HR processes, navigate compliance requirements, and manage the day-to-day people needs that come with running a business.

About the Role

AlexandHR is seeking a Junior Human Resources Consultant to support a portfolio of client organizations with both day-to-day HR operations and compliance-focused projects.

This role is ideal for an experienced HR professional who is comfortable working across multiple areas of human resources and wants to continue developing their consulting and technical HR expertise. The Junior HR Consultant will work under the guidance of senior HR staff while taking ownership of assigned client tasks, projects, and ongoing HR responsibilities.

Because AlexandHR supports organizations across multiple industries, including government contractors, this position will also assist with federal contractor compliance requirements such as OFCCP obligations, affirmative action planning, and related reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide HR generalist support to client organizations, including employee relations, onboarding, offboarding, policy administration, and day-to-day HR operations
  • Serve as a responsive and professional point of contact for assigned client HR matters
  • Client-facing representative of AlexandHR during client engagements and occasional client prospecting
  • Assist with federal contractor compliance requirements, including OFCCP obligations, affirmative action planning, required postings, recordkeeping, and related reporting
  • Research and monitor federal, state, and local employment law requirements applicable to client organizations
  • Assist with wage and hour, EEO, leave, and other employment compliance matters
  • Draft, review, and maintain employee handbooks, HR policies, procedures, forms, and other employee documentation
  • Support recruiting and hiring activities, including job descriptions, candidate coordination, offers, and onboarding
  • Assist with performance management, employee documentation, and routine employee relations matters
  • Support HRIS implementation, administration, data maintenance, and process improvement projects
  • Maintain organized, accurate, and confidential client and employee records
  • Track client deliverables, compliance deadlines, and outstanding action items
  • Identify potential compliance concerns or higher-risk employee matters and escalate them to senior HR staff as appropriate
  • Communicate clearly with clients regarding project status, outstanding information, and next steps
  • Balance priorities and deadlines across multiple client organizations

Qualifications

  • Approximately 3–5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in an HR generalist, HR operations, or compliance-focused role
  • Strong working knowledge of core HR practices and federal and state employment laws
  • Experience supporting government contractors or familiarity with OFCCP and affirmative action requirements strongly preferred
  • Experience working with HRIS, payroll, ATS, or other HR technology platforms
  • Strong research and organizational skills
  • Ability to interpret HR requirements and translate them into practical processes and recommendations
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and client needs in a consulting environment
  • Sound judgment and the ability to recognize when an issue should be escalated
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar HR certification preferred or ability to obtain HR certification

What Success Looks Like

A successful Junior HR Consultant is dependable, organized, curious, and comfortable figuring things out. You do not need to know the answer to every HR question immediately, but you should know how to research it, document what you find, ask thoughtful questions, and recognize when an issue requires senior-level review.

You will be expected to take ownership of your work, communicate proactively, and provide clients with the responsive, practical support they would expect from an internal HR team.

Schedule & Work Environment

This is an on-site W-2 position based in Madison, Alabama with some travel to our Huntsville, AL site and client locations, working approximately 30–40 hours per week. The role involves supporting multiple AlexandHR clients and requires the ability to shift between client priorities, recurring HR responsibilities, and project-based work throughout the week.

Some client meetings or work may occasionally occur at a client location.

Salary

$28 - $35 per hour
