Each woman is provided with the emotional, practical and spiritual support that she needs to choose life for her unborn baby and to provide a better future for herself and her child. Our life-affirming services are offered free-of-charge and include: compassionate consultations, pregnancy tests and ultrasound exams, pregnancy and parenting classes, support groups, maternity housing and medical and community referrals. Aid for Women operates eight pregnancy care centers and two maternity housing programs (Heather’s House and Monica’s House).

Position Description | House Mother

Are you an outgoing, organized leader with an unwavering dedication to the pro-life movement? Do you want to live and work a missionary calling to serve moms and babies struggling to find their footing? Then this position might be for you.

Aid for Women is seeking a full-time House Mother for our pregnancy help organization that operates two maternity homes.

The House Mother is responsible for all aspects of day‐to‐day operations of the home.

Essential Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• The ability to recognize signs of illness and safety/injury hazards and respond with prevention interventions.
• Ability to implement and enforce policies and procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Maturity and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences.
• Ability to maintain professional demeanor while exercising judgment and discretion in work.
• Ability to write reports and correspondence.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Commitment to the mission, values, and goals of Heather’s House and Aid for Women, which includes a commitment to pro‐life and sexual integrity values.  

Essential Functions:

• Promote overall mission, value and goals of the organization.
• Ensure residents and staff members follow best practices for safety.
• Provide a social and moral example to residents while demonstrating Christian values.
• Manage life plans and work with residents to help insure that they are meeting their goals.
• Coordinate Earn‐While‐You‐Learn program.
• Promote adoption as a loving option.
• Responsible for providing a nurturing and caring home‐like atmosphere.
• Maintain vehicles (if, appropriate).
• Maintain petty cash log and receipts.
• Maintain program statistics.
• Maintain office equipment.
• Coordinate purchase of groceries.
• Coordinate gift‐in‐kind donations.
• Maintain the baby boutique.
• Promote the overall well‐being of those who live in the home.
• Train and supervise visitors and administrative volunteers and maintain volunteer log.
• Oversee household, ensuring that it is clean, tidy and in working order.
• Ensure that the inside and outside of the building are properly maintained for safety.

Please Note: The House Mother position is a live-in position at our maternity homes. Housing is provided with this position due to the inherent nature of the role. As a regular employee of Aid for Women, the House Mother will be eligible to participate in a number of benefits, to include health and dental insurance, a group life insurance policy, and a generous Paid Time Off policy.
