Project Overview:

We are seeking an instructional designer and AI literacy specialist to collaborate with our team to develop a fully asynchronous professional development course for K-12 and higher education educators. The course will focus on core AI literacy concepts, ethical practices, practical tool applications, and responsible AI adoption strategies. The successful contractor will serve as both subject matter expert and instructional designer, working closely with AI for Education staff to create engaging, pedagogically sound online learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

Course Design & Development:

• Collaborate with AI for Education team to design a course outline, learning objectives, and engagement strategies for asynchronous delivery
• Create engaging, interactive content modules that translate complex AI concepts into practical applications for educators
• Integrate prompts and interactive elements throughout the course to enhance learner engagement and AI literacy
• Develop multimedia learning materials including video scripts, interactive activities, and downloadable resources while ensuring course meets adult learning principles and professional development best practices

Content Creation & Writing:

• Write clear, compelling course content that balances AI literacy fundamentals with practical classroom applications
• Develop case studies, scenarios, and examples relevant to diverse educational contexts
• Create assessments, reflection prompts, and implementation planning tools
• Produce accompanying materials such as glossaries, quick reference guides, and resource libraries

Subject Matter Expertise & Quality Assurance:

• Apply deep knowledge of AI tools, capabilities, and limitations in educational contexts
• Address ethical considerations, bias awareness, and responsible AI adoption strategies
• Ensure accuracy and currency of all AI-related content and recommendations
• Conduct thorough review and revision of course materials based on AI for Education team feedback

Qualifications:

Required:

• Master's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field with classroom teaching experience
• 4+ years of experience in instructional design with focus on asynchronous online course development
• Demonstrated expertise in AI literacy, including hands-on experience with current AI tools and their educational applications
• Proven track record developing professional development content for educator audiences
• Strong writing skills with ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and engagingly
• Experience with e-learning authoring tools and learning management systems
• Availability to start and complete the project before the end of the year.

Preferred:

• Previous work in AI education, educational technology, or emerging technology professional development
• Experience with multimedia content creation, interactive learning elements, and instructional design software
• Familiarity with adult learning theory and educator professional development best practices
• Knowledge of current AI education policy landscape and responsible implementation frameworks
