About the Role

Agape Childcare Staffing provides substitute teachers to preschools and day schools when their regular staff members are unavailable.

Depending on the school's needs, you may be assigned as a Lead Teacher, independently managing a classroom, or as an Assistant Teacher, supporting the classroom's lead teacher. Your assigned role will always be communicated before your shift.

Availability

• Preferred: Open availability Monday–Friday (any weekday), for full-day shifts.
• Minimum Availability: At least 1–2 weekdays per week with full-day availability.
• On-Demand Assignments: Accept assignments that fit your schedule and availability.
• Assignments may vary weekly based on school needs. Consistent availability is highly preferred.

Pay & Schedule

• Starting Pay: $18/hour, with opportunities to earn up to $20/hour over time based on consistent attendance, reliability, and strong performance.
• W-2 employee classification.
• Paid biweekly.
• Flexible, on-demand weekday assignments.
• Hours are not guaranteed and depend on client staffing needs.

What You'll Do

• Independently manage a classroom when assigned as a Lead Teacher, following the school's established lesson plans and daily routines.
• Assist the Lead Teacher with classroom activities, transitions, and student supervision when assigned as an Assistant Teacher.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment.
• Follow each school's classroom procedures, policies, and required child-to-teacher ratios.
• Communicate professionally with school staff, directors, and Agape Childcare Staffing.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience working with children in a preschool, daycare, or classroom setting.
• Reliable, full-day availability on your committed weekday(s).
• Ability to adapt to different classrooms, age groups, and school environments, sometimes on short notice.
• Ability to successfully complete required background and reference checks.
• Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification.
• Ability to actively supervise children, move throughout the classroom, and lift up to 30 lbs when necessary. Reasonable accommodations are available for qualified individuals.
