Position Overview

Aerstone is seeking an experienced Data Architect to support a mission-critical software development effort for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). This role supports the cybersecurity risk management process by designing, managing, and optimizing data architectures that underpin browser-based applications used for compliance tracking, vulnerability management, and RMF-aligned workflows.

You will play a key role in ensuring data integrity, performance, and secure access across a modern, cloud-native technology stack hosted in AWS.


What You’ll Do

  • Design, manage, and optimize data storage and access using SQL-based databases such as Amazon RDS, Redshift, and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Develop and support ETL-based data synchronization using AWS services including Lambda, Glue, S3, and EC2.
  • Create, maintain, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries, views, and stored procedures in support of application requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with application developers to ensure data models align with functional and performance needs.
  • Participate in Agile development cycles, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and peer code reviews.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines for data and application deployments.
  • Partner with security teams to ensure data architectures and pipelines meet secure coding and deployment standards.
  • Troubleshoot data issues across environments and provide root-cause analysis and remediation.

SQL (RDS, Redshift, MS SQL Server), AWS (Lambda, Glue, S3, EC2), Docker, Python, PowerShell, CI/CD pipelines, Agile/Scrum


Required Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in backend database development or data engineering roles.
  • Expert-level SQL skills, including complex queries and performance tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS data transformation and integration services.
  • Experience designing and maintaining data pipelines in AWS environments.
  • Familiarity with Docker and containerized application environments.
  • Strong understanding of secure coding practices and data security principles.
  • Proven debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Python and PowerShell scripting is a plus.
