The Sales Intern is responsible for generating and qualifying new agent recruiting opportunities by proactively sourcing, engaging, and nurturing prospective independent insurance agents. This role focuses on outbound prospecting, lead follow-up, and pipeline development to convert cold leads into qualified recruiting conversations. The Sales Intern plays a critical role in fueling distribution growth by building consistent outreach systems, maintaining accurate CRM data, and creating a steady flow of high-quality opportunities for the recruiting team.

Key Responsibilities

Prospecting & Outreach

  • Execute daily outreach activity targets (calls, emails, social touches).
  • Engage cold leads and initiate meaningful recruiting conversations.
  • Follow structured outreach sequences and prospecting campaigns.

Lead Qualification & Pipeline Development

  • Qualify prospects based on production level, licensing status, market focus, and growth potential.
  • Document all activity and conversations within the CRM.
  • Maintain organized and accurate pipeline records.
  • Schedule recruiting consultations for the SSDR or the Director of National Distribution.
  • Conduct consistent follow-up to move prospects through the recruiting funnel.

CRM & Data Management

  • Maintain accurate lead records and pipeline stages.
  • Track activity metrics and performance data.
  • Ensure timely follow-up and task management.
  • Assist in list building and database management.

Team Collaboration & Growth

  • Participate in weekly pipeline and performance meetings.
  • Contribute ideas to improve outreach strategy and lead quality.
  • Uphold company culture, accountability standards, and professional communication.

 

Qualifications

  • Basic CRM proficiency.

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in person and virtually.
  • Occasional travel for industry conferences, recruiting events, or company meetings.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
