As Principal Engineer I, you will help drive our insurance business transformation as we redefine the experience for our customers. Our Principal Engineer is a lead member of the engineering staff working across Business Services Engineering, Data Engineering, Platform Engineering, and Infrastructure Engineering to ensure that we provide a fiction-less experience to our customers, maintain the highest standards of protection and availability. Our team thrives and succeeds in delivering high-quality technology products and services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift quickly. The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge, typically ranging from front-end UIs through back-end systems and all points in between. Focus on a few key areas and provide leadership to the engineering teams.
This is a contract to hire role based in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and requires candidates to have a Green card or US Citizenship.
The Principal Engineer will be a key member of the engineering team, collaborating across various departments to ensure a seamless experience for customers and maintain high standards of protection and availability. They will be responsible for overseeing the entire solution lifecycle, delivering high-quality technology products and services in a fast-paced environment where priorities may change rapidly.
The role will involve working closely with product managers, team members, customers, and other engineering teams to solve complex problems and build enterprise-class business applications. The Principal Engineer will be accountable for the quality, usability, and performance of the solutions they deliver, leading design sessions and code reviews to ensure engineering standards are upheld.
Candidates should have experience with programming languages such as Java, C#, Kotlin, and Python, as well as SQL and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services like Docker and Kubernetes, and various Azure tools and services. They should also be able to coach and mentor other engineers, share best practices, and continuously improve processes within and across teams.
