Position: Mechanical Engineer - Mechanical Prototypes Specialist

Location: Reston, VA

Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI with Polygraph Required

Advanced Applications Group LLC (AAG) is in search of a Mechanical Engineer specialized in Mechanical Prototype Technologies to join our innovative team. This role is integral to supporting our Government Client in Reston, VA, focusing on the development and refinement of mechanical prototypes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop advanced mechanical prototypes that meet project specifications and objectives.
  • Utilize a variety of engineering principles and techniques to innovate and solve complex mechanical challenges.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate conceptual designs into functional prototypes.
  • Test and evaluate prototypes for functionality, durability, and performance.
  • Document the design process, including detailed technical specifications and project progress.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in mechanical engineering and prototype development.
  • Provide expert guidance and technical support throughout the prototype development lifecycle.


  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer, specifically in the development of mechanical prototypes.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools relevant to mechanical design.
  • In-depth knowledge of materials, fabrication processes, and mechanical systems.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration and project documentation.
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience with 3D printing, CNC machining, and other rapid prototyping technologies.
  • Prior experience working on government or military engineering projects.
