Bexar County, Texas | Remote/Hybrid | 1099 Contract
Position: 2 Part-Time Data Interns
Hours: 40 hours per month (10 hrs/week)
Duration: June through September 2026 (3 months)
Pay: $600/month ($1,800 total)
WHO WE ARE
ACT 4 SA Action Fund fights for lasting carceral reform in Bexar County. We know lobbying and elections mean nothing without grassroots action. We use every tool available — elections, ballot initiatives, direct advocacy — to challenge harmful systems and build a public safety system that is accountable, compassionate, and transparent.
THE WORK
In 2024, ACT 4 SA produced the first nonpartisan judicial voter guide of its kind in Bexar County. It was a powerful voter education tool that gave residents information that courts and candidates can often struggle to share. We are now building the second version for November 2026 under ACT 4 SA Action Fund, and we intend to make it even more informative, more detailed, and more useful to working people navigating their understanding of the Texas judicial system and who is on the ballot in November 2026 midterm elections.
The voter guide includes:
- Court Breakdown: Explains the different courts in Bexar County, their jurisdiction, and their importance. Includes information on specialty courts and diversion programs that offer alternatives to incarceration.
- Case Flow: Maps how cases move through the judicial system in Texas, from initial case to appeal, so voters understand the court system better.
- Candidate Bios: Profiles each judicial candidate on the ballot with background information, qualifications, and community ties.
- Campaign Finance: Breaks down who funds each candidate — law firms, party or PAC donors, working people.
- Judicial Decisionmaking: Documents historical rulings and patterns for each candidate where available.
Data interns will gather, clean, and analyze research for every section of this guide. Your work will directly shape what thousands of voters see before they cast their ballots.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Data Collection and Analysis: Collect, organize, and analyze data using relevant tools and software. Work with team members to ensure accuracy and integrity.
- Documentation: Keep detailed records of research procedures, methodologies, and outcomes. Prepare reports and presentations summarizing findings for team meetings.
- Collaboration: Brainstorm ideas, troubleshoot challenges, and contribute to the success of research projects.
