About the Role
As Wastewater Operator, you'll operate, monitor, and maintain the center's wastewater treatment systems, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and protecting the health of everyone on campus. It's hands-on, technical work that directly supports the center's mission.
What You'll Do
- Operate and maintain wastewater treatment facilities, including pumps, motors, valves, and related equipment
- Monitor treatment processes, perform routine inspections, and record operational data
- Collect and analyze water samples to ensure compliance with state and federal environmental standards
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on wastewater systems
- Respond promptly to system malfunctions, alarms, and emergencies
- Maintain accurate logs, reports, and documentation for regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with center staff and external agencies to ensure safe, efficient operations
- Support sustainability initiatives and promote environmental stewardship across the center
What You'll Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in wastewater operations preferred
- Valid Arkansas Wastewater Operator License (Class I or higher) — required
- 1–2 years of experience in wastewater treatment operations
- Solid knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, safety procedures, and environmental regulations
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Effective communication and recordkeeping skills
Nice to Have
- Experience in residential or educational facility operations
- Familiarity with computerized monitoring systems (SCADA)
- Strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance
