Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Correctional Healthcare

Position Summary
We are seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide healthcare services within a federal correctional environment in SeaTac, WA. This role supports a diverse inmate population and requires strong clinical judgment, professionalism, and the ability to work respectfully with individuals from varied cultural, regional, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.
The LPN provides direct patient care under the supervision of medical providers and ensures compliance with Bureau of Prisons and institutional healthcare standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with legal, ethical, and institutional standards
- Perform duties within scope of LPN licensure
- Administer medications (oral, intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular)
- Assist with medication distribution (pill line)
- Monitor patient response to treatment
- Perform venipuncture and collect laboratory specimens
- Conduct diagnostic testing (EKG, visual acuity testing, lab prep)
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and logs
- Screen lab results and notify providers of abnormal values
- Support chronic care clinics (hypertension, diabetes, asthma)
- Initiate emergency care when required
- Maintain infection control and sharps safety standards
- Protect patient confidentiality and privacy
- Operate EKG and laboratory equipment
- Observe and report behavioral or mental health concerns
- Provide first reminder, basic care, and injury guidance
- Assist with administrative duties as needed
Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted LPN license in Washington State
- Ability to work safely and professionally in a correctional setting
- Knowledge of chronic disease management
- Understanding of mental health screening basics
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- CPR/BLS certification preferred
