Description

The role of the Accounting Manager is to supervise, track, and evaluate the day-to-day activities of the staff and senior accountants. The Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the accounting team serving each assigned client, ensuring the accuracy and quality of work being performed, and overseeing financial reporting. Qualifications and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:


Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements
  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles
  • Provide recommendations
  • Improve systems and procedures, and initiate corrective actions
  • Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Meet financial accounting objectives
  • Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the client accounting team, including:

* Month and year-end process

*Accounts payable/receivable

*Cash receipts

 *General ledger

* Payroll 

*Budgeting

*Cash forecasting

*Revenue and expenditure variance analysis

 *Capital asset reconciliation

*Bill payments

 * Fixed asset activity

* Debt activity

 * Sales tax compliance

  • Develop, train, and review the work being performed by staff and senior accountants
  • Lead client meetings and present information related to the accounting and finance function


Qualifications

  •  Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • CPA License Required


Skills

  • 8-12 years’ experience in an accounting role
  • Proven working experience as an Accounting Manager, Accounting Supervisor or Finance Manager
  • 2-3 years’ experience leading a team (minimum)
  • Worked in public accounting, tax, and payroll
  •  Ability to direct and supervise
  • Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software, and databases
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience with either QuickBooks or Xero is required
  • Experience with Studio Designer a plus
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate professionally and with proper etiquette
  • Takes ownership of responsibilities
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines
