Autism Included’s Community Manager will be the bridge between the organization and the public. We can’t achieve our mission on our own and will need to engage our community, keep them informed, share resources, celebrate successes, and hear voices that matter.

This role is part of our Public Relations Committee which is led by Christopher Whittier, the Chair of the Board. Our team is small, collaborative, fun to work with, and communicates often. We are here to empower you and provide support.

Responsibilities

  • Grow our online presence by keeping the organization active and synced across all platforms, ensuring posts and branding meet organizational standards.
  • Partner with key roles across the organization to provide community content as needed. This may include fundraiser campaigns, events, surveys, general updates, educational materials, volunteer spotlights, etc.
  • Help establish best practices, processes and tools for social campaigning.
  • Identify new opportunities to expand and interact with the community and increase engagement.
  • Attend committee meetings as needed (virtual)

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills - You will be engaging the community and representing the organization, careful consideration of tone and wording will be critical. Communication-related education would be a plus.
  • Social Media/Internet savvy - You will be working with modern social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, etc., and should have a good handle on how to use them, online etiquette, security and permission settings, scheduled posts, etc.
  • Experience in community management and social media marketing is a huge plus!

Time commitment

Flexible, and may vary depending on the current initiative. Most of the board and volunteers support Autism Included outside of their full-time jobs. 3 hours a week may be a realistic expectation at first as we begin to build up a presence, however, due to the interactive nature of social media, ongoing vigilance will be needed if conflicts/concerns arise (like handling inappropriate comments, responses, etc.)

Work environment

"Every day" responsibilities can be done remotely. There may be opportunities that would be beneficial to pursue in person such as attending an event or conference, so please be open to those types of initiatives if required.
