Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

We are seeking a compassionate and proactive School Counselor to implement a comprehensive counseling program that addresses students' academic, career, and social/emotional development. The ideal candidate will collaborate with educators, parents, and the community to support student achievement and well-being.​


  • Assist students in developing academic plans, monitor progress, and provide interventions as needed.
  • Guide students in exploring post-secondary options, including college and career pathways, and assist with application processes.
  • Provide individual and group counseling to address personal and social challenges, promoting a positive school climate.
  • Respond to student crises and emergencies, providing immediate support and referrals to appropriate services.
  • Design and implement preventive programs and workshops for students, staff, and parents on topics such as bullying, substance abuse, and mental health.
  • Work closely with teachers, administrators, and parents to identify student needs and develop strategies to support student success.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure confidentiality in accordance with federal and state laws and school policies.


Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: 


  • Completed Master’s degree in School Counseling, Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Arizona School Counselor Certification as per the Arizona Department of Education requirements.
  • Valid Social Work Certification as per the Arizona Department of Education requirements.
  • Minimum of two years of counseling experience in a school setting preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; proficiency in counseling techniques and interventions.
  • Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Familiarity with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model.
  • Proficiency in data analysis to inform program development.​
  • Coaching Experience and/or Volleyball Coaching Experience.


Work Environment/Physical Requirements: 


  • Full-time teachers are assigned to 190 workdays per year, including 147 instructional days and 10 on-campus professional development/workdays. Required hours are Monday–Thursday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM, with one Friday per month on campus (8:00 AM–2:00 PM) and all other Fridays as remote workdays (8:00 AM–2:00 PM), subject to change with notice.
  • Comfortable standing for extended periods during teaching sessions, as well as sitting for tasks such as lesson planning, grading, and meetings.
  • Perform lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling (up to 40 lbs. and above).   
  • The ability to see and hear clearly in order to observe student behavior, facilitate classroom discussions, and respond to questions or concerns.
  • Ability to approach emotionally charged situations with balance and empathy.  
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must have unaided or aided hearing ability to receive information through listening in a noisy environment. 
  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

Salary

$65,000 - $70,000 per year
