Environmental Field Technician-Seattle

5 Microns Inc. is a growing environmental consulting company specializing in mold inspections, air quality testing, and indoor environmental assessments. Founded in Tukwila, WA, and expanding into new regions, we deliver accurate, data-driven insights to clients concerned about health, comfort, and indoor safety.
We are looking for a sharp, reliable, and detail-oriented Environmental Field Technician who shares our passion for science, professionalism, and client service.
· Conduct mold inspections and indoor air quality assessments in residential and commercial properties.
· Collect air, surface, and bulk samples according to company protocols.
· Operate and maintain scientific instruments including air pumps, moisture meters, particle counters, and thermal imaging cameras.
· Document findings with high-quality field notes, photographs, and diagrams.
· Communicate clearly and professionally with clients onsite.
· Upload data, photos, and notes to project management software for report preparation.
· Ensure strict adherence to industry standards (IICRC, AIHA, EPA) and 5 Microns Inc. quality protocols.
· Support occasional lab drop-offs, equipment calibration, or shipment preparation.
Required:
· High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field preferred.
· 1+ years of experience in fieldwork, inspections, or a related trade (construction, HVAC, restoration, pest control, etc.).
· Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
· Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
· Ability to lift 40+ lbs and work in confined spaces (attics, crawlspaces, etc.).
· Tech-savvy: able to use tablets, mobile apps, and Google Workspace.
Preferred:
· Knowledge of mold, IAQ, or environmental health standards.
· IAC2, ACAC, or other environmental certifications (or willingness to earn within 6–12 months).
· Fluent in Spanish (especially valuable in the Seattle market).
· Competitive pay ($22–$28/hour DOE to start, with growth potential).
· Paid training, certification support, and continuing education.
· Mileage reimbursement or company vehicle (depending on schedule).
· Flexible work hours and potential for advancement into lead technician or inspector roles.
