Key Responsibilities
Program Development & Management
- Oversee adult programming, including classes, clinics, and special events.
- Develop and refine both new and existing programs based on participant needs.
- Ensure instructional consistency and quality across all adult programs.
- Develop and maintain a Program Development Plan for long-term growth and improvement.
Facility & Equipment Coordination
- Manage equipment upkeep, inventory, and procurement for adult classes.
- Ensure PPE inspections and maintain class equipment standards.
- Communicate with the Retail Manager to ensure necessary gear is available.
- Coordinate with routesetters to optimize wall usage and climbing routes for classes.
- Maintain displays for classes and featured gear in retail areas.
- Work with the Retail Manager to highlight and promote specific gear, such as lead climbing equipment and gear of the month.
Team Member & Training
- Assist with hiring and onboarding adult programming team member.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels and manage scheduling for all adult classes and team activities.
- Input team member schedules into When to Work every Thursday to ensure coverage for all adult programming.
- Conduct regular team member training to ensure high-quality instruction.
- Work with the facility managers to conduct evaluations at 90-day probationary periods, annually, and as needed.
- Ensure all team member are knowledgeable about 5.Life’s adult programming offerings and event schedules.
Class Scheduling & Curriculum Development
- Develop and maintain the adult class schedule in collaboration with the facility managers.
- Work with team member to create and refine lesson plans and curriculum.
- Oversee printed materials for class instruction and participant take-home notes.
- Ensure alignment of curriculum with 5.Life’s mission and values.
- Re-develop older class formats and curriculum as necessary to align with current industry standards.
Marketing & Communication
- Maintain accurate website content related to adult programming.
- Collaborate with the facility manager to promote programs via social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).
- Coordinate print materials such as rack cards, posters, TV slides, and calendars.
- Ensure promotional materials are up-to-date and strategically placed throughout the facility.
Participant Engagement & Guest Experience
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for adult participants.
- Collect and analyze participant feedback for program improvement.
- Ensure clear communication of program expectations and details to guests.
Hands-on Instruction
- Provide direct instruction as needed, with a transition to a supervisory role as team member become trained.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience in program management, instruction, or coaching in a climbing or outdoor education setting preferred.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with climbing gym operations and adult learning principles is a plus.
