Nursery Assistant Teacher – Position Overview The Nursery Assistant Teacher at Little Precious Angels Childcare supports the daily care, supervision, and routines of infants and young toddlers in a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment. This role works under the direction of the Nursery Lead Teacher and administration to ensure children’s basic needs, safety, and emotional well-being are met at all times. The Nursery Assistant Teacher assists with feeding, diapering, transitions, and classroom activities while maintaining strict adherence to safe sleep practices, health guidelines, and Missouri DESE licensing requirements. This position requires attentiveness, teamwork, and a calm, compassionate approach to infant care. The Nursery Assistant Teacher plays a vital role in supporting the nursery team, maintaining a clean and organized environment, and contributing to positive relationships with children, families, and staff through professionalism and consistency.

Your Little One’s Home Away From Home Welcome to Little Precious Angels Childcare in St. Louis, Missouri! We are a professional childcare center enrolling children from 0 weeks to 5 years of age. We offer high-quality childcare, before- and after-school care for ages 3-6 in St. Louis Public Schools Zoning area, however we do not offer transportation. Mission Statement It is the mission of Little Precious Angels Childcare to provide exceptional care and to provide each child a learning, nurturing and safe environment. Our goal is to support a child's desire to be a life-long learner. About Us Little Precious Angels Child Care Center opened in January 2011. During the next three years, LPACC saw a substantial growth. In July 2014 LPACC opened its first center which consisted of 10 children ranging from ages 6wks to 12yrs old. In July 2016, just a few years after LPACC first opened its doors, the center nearly doubled its square footage and, shortly thereafter, its enrollment doubled. In May 2016, a second daycare was added to accommodate a thriving community preschool program. In May 2019 Lpacc expanded our center to accommodate more children waiting for our services. With a larger preschool and our partners at Hatch Learning we were able to add smart boards to our preschool program.

Position Summary

The Nursery Assistant Teacher supports the daily care, supervision, and developmental needs of infants and young toddlers in a safe, nurturing, and structured environment. This role assists the Nursery Lead Teacher in maintaining classroom routines, implementing care plans, and ensuring full compliance with Missouri DESE licensing regulations and accreditation standards. The Nursery Assistant Teacher must remain attentive, responsive, and professional at all times.


Required Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an early childhood education setting
  • Experience working with infants and young toddlers preferred

Education & Certification Requirements

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential – Required
  • Infant/Toddler CDA preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED (minimum)
  • Active Missouri Professional Development (MOPD) account
  • Current CPR & First Aid Certification (Infant, Toddler, Adult)
  • Completion of all Missouri DESE-required trainings, including but not limited to:
  • Safe Sleep (required)
  • Child Abuse & Neglect
  • Emergency Preparedness
  • Caring for Vulnerable Children
  • Must successfully complete:
  • Comprehensive background screening
  • Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR)
  • Fingerprinting (as required by Missouri)

Job Responsibilities

Infant Care & Supervision

  • Provide constant supervision of infants and toddlers at all times
  • Assist with feeding, diapering, toileting, and daily care routines
  • Follow individualized care plans for each child
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to children’s needs

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Follow safe sleep practices at all times (non-negotiable)
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and hazard-free environment
  • Follow health, sanitation, and emergency procedures
  • Immediately report safety concerns, injuries, or incidents

Classroom Support

  • Assist with classroom routines, transitions, and schedules
  • Support developmentally appropriate activities as directed
  • Help maintain organization of materials, supplies, and child belongings
  • Work cooperatively with the Nursery Lead Teacher and team

Documentation & Communication

  • Assist with daily reports, attendance, and required documentation
  • Communicate respectfully and professionally with families under direction
  • Maintain confidentiality of children and families

Professionalism & Teamwork

  • Follow direction from Lead Teachers and Administration
  • Maintain punctuality, dependability, and accountability
  • Accept feedback and apply it to daily practice
  • Uphold LPACC policies, procedures, and values
