Key Holder

Location: 202 Cannabis Co. – Garnerville, NY

Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time

Pay: $18.00–$19.00 per hour (based on experience)

Job Overview

The Key Holder is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the dispensary by performing opening and closing procedures, maintaining accurate cash handling, ensuring operational readiness, and delivering exceptional customer service while upholding company policies and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

Opening & Closing Operations

  • Perform opening and closing procedures according to company SOPs.
  • Open and secure the dispensary using established security protocols.
  • Complete opening and closing checklists accurately and on time.
  • Prepare the sales floor for daily operations and ensure the store is secured at closing.
  • Arm and disarm security systems when scheduled.
  • Maintain accountability for assigned store keys.

Cash Handling

  • Count and balance cash drawers at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Prepare daily cash deposits according to company procedures.
  • Report cash discrepancies or register variances to management.
  • Follow all cash-handling and loss-prevention policies.

Customer Service

  • Provide exceptional customer service by educating customers and recommending products based on their needs.
  • Promote daily specials, loyalty programs, and current promotions.
  • Resolve routine customer concerns professionally and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Maintain a welcoming and professional shopping experience.

Operations & Inventory

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked sales floor.
  • Assist with restocking inventory and merchandising displays.
  • Assist with receiving deliveries and organizing product as directed.
  • Notify management of low inventory levels or operational concerns.
  • Complete assigned operational tasks and daily checklists.

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all New York State Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) regulations and company policies.
  • Verify customer identification and purchase eligibility.
  • Follow all inventory control, security, and cash-handling procedures.
  • Report compliance or safety concerns immediately.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous retail or customer service experience preferred.
  • Previous cash-handling experience preferred.
  • Cannabis dispensary experience is a plus.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and responsibly.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, reach, and stock merchandise.
  • Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
