The Coax Splicer is responsible for performing tasks associated with the aerial and underground electronic upgrade and splicing of coaxial cable for cable television systems.

Description

Essential Duties:

  • Read and interpret work orders, specifications, engineering drawings, and/or cut sheets to determine work to be done in a sequence of tasks.
  • Repair or splice in a new line as needed to complete the testing and certification of the project.
  • Place and install the required coax cable when necessary to complete the assignment(s).
  • Install all passive and active devices (amplifiers, taps, splits), pedestals, vaults, and coax splice cases required to house CATV equipment per customer requirements.
  • Test RF lines for the balanced signal between points-continuity and fault.
  • Read and understand site plans, maps, diagrams, designs, and prints needed to support the project(s).
  • Pull Coax through existing duct package, pull cable through conduit either manually, blowing, or mechanically, and splice and activate underground and aerial lines.
  • Splice in node splits to reduce capacity
  • Utilize RF Meters and TDR accurately
  • Ability to safely utilize bucket trucks or climb utility poles to place cables on poles per system design.
  • Close a project by completing production sheets, verifying proper levels after activation, and adjusting and troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Ensure that all work considers the safety of the customer and public and compliance with all governmental orders,
  • Ensure proper safety techniques and incident reporting procedures are followed
  • Communicating with Local MSO Employees as a Representative of 2 Connect Homes.
  • Other duties as required.

  • Frequent walking, standing, and sitting within the work area.
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull/carry up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees, management, peers, etc.
  • Must be able to work in various weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, and dry)
  • Ability to work in a confined space and at high elevations (poles, hydraulic lift buckets, ladders)
  • Up to 50% local travel is required to a variety of worksites (planned in advance)
  • Must be able to work in a loud, noise-filled environment out in the field


Salary

$35,000 - $40,000 per year
