Under direct supervision, monitors and oversees security for assigned sites such as 1st Response Security Client Locations and Security Posts. Observes and reports suspicious activities of personnel or others. Observes and reports unauthorized persons on district property. Assesses other problem situations
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Represents the 1st Response Security Company in providing a safe environment. Secures and monitors access to all entrance gates as scheduled or as needed. Patrols assigned 1st Response Security Property and clients property during day/night/week-end shifts to prevent theft or damage and to ensure adequate monitoring and security. May be required to open and lock gates. Periodically monitors halls and walks the grounds. Generates and maintains a log of activities that occur in and around the school and other facilities on a daily basis. Documents unusual and/or suspicious behavior. Identifies and reports unauthorized personnel. Secures restricted areas to prevent unauthorized access. As a security measure, monitors contractors, customers and visitors on clients' property. When assigned to a satellite or auxiliary location, maintains a log of all persons and vehicles entering or leaving secured areas. Assesses problem situations and maintains daily log of activities. Writes incident reports and maintains daily log of activities. Assists police and/or emergency responders in emergencies. Adheres to 1st Response Security's policies and procedures. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
SKILL / LICENSE REQUIRED:
Must successfully pass a thorough background check. Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License or Identification. Effective speaking and listening skills required. Microsoft Office strongly preferred; Office equipment (computer, copier) strongly preferred. Must be able to work on a shift basis; must be able to work on weekends and on holidays; must be able to work overtime on short notice.
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES: No supervisory or direct people management responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice and training to staff.
WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT:
Work and tasks are often straightforward, routine, structured and guided by established policies and procedures. Little, if any, independent judgment is required, outside of making basic choices in the selection and application of established methods. The job receives frequent, ongoing supervision.
DECISION MAKING: Follows rules and procedures. Decisions are made on routine matters affecting few individuals and usually within the confines of the job's own department. Specific job activities and results are typically reviewed closely. There are limited requirements for developing new ideas or changes in methods, procedures or services.
COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS:
Basic communication - very little communication required such as receiving basic instructions. Interactions are mostly with customers, own supervisor and co-workers in own department.
CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS: Follows through with customer inquiries, requests and complaints. Forwards difficult and non-routine inquiries or requests to appropriate level for resolution.
WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work involves minimal risk of accident and requires following basic safety precautions. Ability to carry and/or lift less than 15 pounds. Ability to walk around facility to do rounds and fire watch. Ability to stand to assist Customers. Ability to work in inclement weather. Ability to work on Weekends, Holidays, and Overtime.
