Job Summary

123 Backflow Testing is seeking a skilled and dedicated Backflow Technician to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to repair and maintain backflow prevention devices, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The technician will operate primarily within the New York metropolitan area, serving residential, commercial, and municipal clients. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technician to play a key role in protecting the region’s water supply.


Key Responsibilities

  • Device Repair and Maintenance:
  • Diagnose and repair backflow prevention devices of various types and sizes.
  • Perform routine maintenance to ensure devices function properly and remain compliant with regulations.
  • Replace worn or defective parts as needed, ensuring devices meet operational standards.
  • Testing and Compliance:
  • Conduct annual and periodic testing of backflow devices to comply with local ordinances.
  • Document all testing results and submit reports to relevant authorities as required.
  • Provide customers with compliance documentation and recommendations for ongoing maintenance.
  • Customer Interaction:
  • Communicate with clients to explain repairs, provide cost estimates, and answer questions about backflow devices.
  • Educate customers on the importance of backflow prevention and maintaining compliance with water safety regulations.
  • Safety and Standards:
  • Ensure all work adheres to safety standards, company protocols, and local regulations.
  • Stay informed of changes in backflow prevention regulations and industry best practices.
  • Travel:
  • Travel across the New York metropolitan area to perform on-site repairs and services.
  • Maintain a well-stocked company vehicle with necessary tools and parts for efficient service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Education and Certification:
  • Certified Backflow Prevention Tester certification required (NY and / or NJ).
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with backflow prevention devices, including testing, maintenance, and repair.
  • Strong knowledge of NYC DEP and other local regulations regarding backflow prevention.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical systems.
  • Ability to use hand tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic software.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, with a customer-focused approach.
  • Other Requirements:
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and perform physical tasks associated with device repair.

Salary

$38 - $60 per hour
