About Us
Timshel Health is a long-term holding company building a portfolio of direct primary care (DPC) practices that operate in markets across the country. We are entrepreneurs and operators who happen to be investors; our core competency is building great healthcare companies alongside quality people. We are highly mission aligned with our healthcare practice partners and believe they are solving two of America’s most critical needs: rising healthcare costs and poor health caused in part by low access.
Distinct from a traditional investment firm, we have a multi-decade time horizon, a highly entrepreneurial ethos, and a unique capital base of family offices and healthcare CEOs and entrepreneurs. We believe that being exceptional partners to our operating companies, focusing relentlessly on equity efficiency and resource allocation, and committing to continuous improvement will create long-term value.
About Our Name
Timshel borrows its name from East of Eden by John Steinbeck. Timshel, a Hebrew word for “thou mayest,” is a motif of the book that celebrates the beauty of the individual and the agency of individuals to choose their own path. We believe the American healthcare system has robbed providers and patients of their agency, and we want to help great healthcare practices in restoring that agency. We look for this ethos in all of our potential partners and how they treat their employees, providers, and patients, and we ensure it remains front and center as they grow and evolve. We bring this ethos to our holding company, where we celebrate the autonomy of each practice partner and empower our employees. We are looking for this ethos in our new Accountant.
