Institute for Exceptional Care (IEC) is a nonprofit organization committed to making healthcare better for people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD). IEC works to change, at scale, how healthcare is taught, delivered, and paid for, to improve the wellbeing of people with IDD (conditions such as autism or Down Syndrome). As nationally recognized healthcare leaders who also have personal connections to IDD, we foster collaborations between the disability and healthcare communities to create solutions that are effective, efficient, and centered on the priorities and perspectives of people with disabilities. We are an ambitious and dynamic organization punching well above our weight, with a budget of $2.1M and partners spanning state and federal government agencies, academic medical centers, major health insurance companies, disability advocacy and service groups, national clinical organizations, and hundreds of people with IDD and caregivers.
